4.11.020 Disposable property.
A. Except as otherwise required by law, the following property in possession of the police department is disposable property and shall be disposed of as provided for in this chapter:
1. Evidence that is releasable and has been retained for thirty (30) days after the final judicial disposition date;
2. Safekeeping property that has not been claimed by the owner within thirty (30) days after being acquired by the police department; and
3. Found property that has not been claimed by the owner within thirty (30) days after being acquired by the police department.
B. The following property in possession of the police department is not subject to the retention periods in subsection A of this section:
1. Property voluntarily submitted to the police department by the owner for the purposes of disposal or destruction;
2. Nonevidence contraband; or
3. Dangerous or perishable property. [Ord. 02-34 § 3.]
